I want all my clients to feel like the sun has finally come out, the burden is lifted, and they have closure.
Amy Cross

Amy Cross chose to practice family law because she believes in “doing good.”

“Family Law is personal and important work. I help one individual with one problem at a time, so that they can get a new lease on life. I want all my clients to feel like the sun has finally come out, the burden is lifted, and they have closure.”

She is especially gratified when she can make things better for the most vulnerable family members—particularly the children and pets. She remembers:

“In one case, I was able to help my client recover her pets, which had been taken and hidden from her by her spouse. She just wanted to provide the best life for them, as they were like her children.”

Amy also believes that each client’s story, no matter how familiar or extraordinary, is important. She embraces the power of language to help clients share their unique story. Whether in court argument or through her writing, Amy ensures her client’s position is clearly heard and validated.

With over 17 years of experience, Amy is a respected attorney in the region’s family law community, having spent the past 11 years serving the Portland area as a solo family law and estate planning practitioner. Her practice focuses on divorce and family law matters, adoptions, wills and trusts, probate and trust administration, elder law, and Medicaid planning.

Amy received her Juris Doctorate (JD) at the University of Oregon School of Law, where she also completed their estate planning program. She is trained in the practice of collaborative divorce and is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP) and Oregon Association of Collaborative Professionals (OACP).

As a native Oregonian, Amy enjoys unwinding outdoors with her family and two dogs, Sophie the St. Bernard and Max the Standard Labradoodle. She plays the piano, enjoys folk and pop concerts, and discloses that the “Hamilton” soundtrack is played on repeat in her household. She is also an avid newspaper reader and armchair politico—particularly on Sunday mornings with coffee in hand.
